Careful succession planning is crucial to building a sustainable business that can not only survive but thrive for years to come. Successful entrepreneurs drive the Canadian economy, and their continued growth supports future generations. While TTSG has spent over 20 years helping Canadian business owners and entrepreneurs build economic opportunity through the successful succession of family businesses and transfer of wealth to future generations, we have also been focused on our own succession plan.

This transition began nearly five years ago, when I was first brought in as CEO with a bold mandate: convert TTSG into a sustainable company that can provide bespoke insurance solutions to serve its clients over the long-term. A simple yet unusual concept. Canadian insurance brokerages typically wind down when their owner retires, whereas we took the opportunity to grow as part of our transition plan.

Meeting this challenge would not have been possible without TTSG’s founder, Garnet Morris. Garnet has an incredible passion for finding ways to help successful entrepreneurs reach new heights and protect their legacies. It has been a privilege to work alongside him as we transferred the knowledge and experience that he acquired over an accomplished 40-year career. He means so much to so many people and we can’t thank him enough.

To ensure we had the talent to sustain our clients’ needs over the long-term, we grew rapidly from 17 to over 125 professionals and now boast an impressive team of Principals, Senior Advisors, Chartered Professional Accountants, MBAs, Lawyers and Actuaries. This depth of talent provides unique capabilities that set us apart now and for the future, and we will continue to build on TTSG’s foundation of innovation and expertise.

The succession plan has now been successfully completed, and I have officially taken over controlling interest of The Targeted Strategies Group (view press release).  As the transition comes to an end, we are focused on expanding TTSG’s original vision: Ensuring your businesses and family remain strong, for future generations.
